The myth of assisted living being appropriate for all is untrue. As Geeta Anand writes in “How Not to Grow Old in America”(New York Times, Aug. 29, 2019), the facilities are more appropriate for individuals who need minimal care and monitoring.
Home health care is much better for anyone else … as well as any individual who wishes to remain in their home.
Assisted living sites are not regulated, and there are many cases where patients who needed substantial care were either hurt or died in such facilities. Read Anand’s article HERE.
